What to Do During a Girls’ Trip to Bermuda

Explore the Royal Naval Dockyard

While this area may be crawling with tourists, since all the cruise ships dock here, it is still worth checking out. Take some time exploring this part of the island and grab a bite to eat. My favorite part of the dockyard was the cute telephone booths lined up next to each other, resembling those found in London.

Explore St. George’s and Turtle Bay Beach

Take a long ferry ride to St. George’s. Hop off and explore this adorable part of the island. You will fall in love with all the colorful buildings. After a little sightseeing, my cousin and I walked to Turtle Bay Beach and spent the afternoon sunbathing and snorkeling there! Be careful walking around the winding roads, though. We loved snorkeling at this beach and seeing all the tropical fish swimming about.

Elbow Beach

Take the bus to Elbow Beach, a notable location on the island. Get here early to claim your spot and pack a good lunch, as you’ll want to spend the whole day here. This beach has the most perfect sand and crystal-clear water. I did not want to leave this beach, and we made sure to return another day. The beach was not as crowded as I heard it might be, but it also depends on the day you visit. 

Horseshoe Bay

While we’re on the subject of famous beaches in Bermuda, I also must mention the unforgettable Horseshoe Bay. This is the most famous pink sand beach in Bermuda. It was more crowded than Elbow Beach and is definitely more touristy, but it is well worth visiting for the light pink grains of sand. This beach had tons of miles to explore, as well as scenic rock formations in the water. Make sure to bring your snorkeling gear here as well!

 Bermuda is the perfect extended weekend trip! While it has the reputation of being a bit more expensive, there are ways around this. There are not tons of Airbnb’s on the island, but my cousin and I managed to find a cheap one that met all of our needs. To keep the costs of meals low, we went to some local grocery stores and made some meals in our Airbnb. But if you have room in your budget to eat out every day, there is an abundance of seaside restaurants with gourmet menu items to choose from. This entire trip was an unforgettable experience. If you have the opportunity to take a girls’ trip to Bermuda, do it!

How to Get Around Bermuda Without a Car

If you plan on exploring many areas of Bermuda but do not have a car, then purchasing a transportation pass is your best bet! When my cousin and I visited Bermuda, we stayed in an Airbnb right across from the Salt Kettle ferry stop. This was very convenient since we could walk right to the ferry and take it to downtown Hamilton! From Hamilton, we could either transfer to another ferry or take the bus. There is a ticket booth at the ferry stop in downtown Hamilton, where you can purchase your transportation passes for your trip. My suggestion is to get a pass fare, which includes all routes and zones. You can choose how many days you want the pass to be for. We chose the 4-day pass, which came just under $50 per person. This saved us money in the long run. Due to the number of times that we used public transportation to get around the island, it was much more cost-efficient to get a pass rather than pay every time we wanted to go somewhere, especially considering that the buses require exact change, and most ferries do not accept change at all. If you plan on traveling around the island and want to make it easy on yourself, purchase the transportation pass!
