Hotel Charles Lindbergh Review: Themed Hotel in Phantasialand

Curious as to what it’s like to sleep in an aeronaut’s cabin? Hotel Charles Lindbergh, a themed hotel in Phantasialand, gives you the chance to experience this truly unique type of accommodation, along with access to the park, three-course meals, and more.

Located outside of Cologne, Germany, Phantasialand is a family-friendly theme park with six different themed worlds: Berlin, China Town, Deep in Africa, Fantasy, Mexico, and Mystery.

As one of Europe’s top-rated theme parks, I was not disappointed! The park would have been fun enough on its own, but adding in a stay at one of their hotels made the experience even more memorable.

If you’re curious about what all is included in a stay at Hotel Charles Lindbergh and are in search of a non-biased opinion to help you determine whether it is worth staying here or not, then continue reading for my honest review!

Overview of Hotel Charles Lindbergh + My Review

The Theme ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

As the name suggests, this hotel is themed around Charles Lindbergh, an American aviator who made his mark on the world by being the first individual to fly across the Atlantic. The entire hotel is a testament to the wonderful world of aviation, with aeronaut cabins as your room and a traveler’s guide after checking in.

The steampunk vibe of the hotel makes it a cool atmosphere to return to after a day in the park. I was extremely impressed with the continuity of the theming throughout every piece of the property.

The Location ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

There are a few themed hotels in Phantasialand, but Hotel Charles Lindbergh definitely gives the others a run for their money. Conveniently located in the Berlin (Rookburgh) section of the park, visitors are able to enter the park directly from this point instead of going to the main entrance. There will be an attendee checking your tickets before entering, but you won’t have to go through a line of people to enter.

The same goes for going back to the hotel. You can enter through the same path you took to go to the park. The walk is not long at all - just a few steps away, depending on where you’re at in the hotel! There is even a rollercoaster right outside the hotel that you can view before, during, and after hours.

Additional Perk: Not only can you enter the park during hours, but you can also enter the Rookburgh section of the park after hours! It felt so special being able to walk through this section after hours without the crowds, and it truly added a special element to the entire stay.

The Cabin ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The aeronaut cabin at Hotel Charles Lindbergh was probably the most unique rooming experience I’ve ever had, and I have nothing but great reviews for it! The entrance alone was stunning, but entering the room truly transported me to the 1920s/30s.

Upon first entering, one might wonder if the cabin will provide enough space for them. One thing I learned about the Germans through this theme park experience, however, is that they truly know how to make the most of little space!

With comfortable beds, bedside charging ports and lights, a nice bathroom, and a cleverly designed compartment to store luggage out of sight, the room proved to be an extremely functional space with excellent theming.

The Dining ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

As a fellow foodie, I am happy to report that the dining options at Hotel Charles Lindbergh were exceptional!

The hotel’s dining facilities are located in the basement, which has outdoor access to the Rookburgh section of the park. They offer a hearty (and complimentary!!!) daily breakfast, a customizable three-course dinner meal included in your stay, and an adjacent bar with a creative drink menu.

Let’s start with breakfast. Breakfast buffets are usually underwhelming for me, but I have to admit this was the best I’ve ever had! I wish I could wake up to this breakfast spread every day.

Some of the breakfast highlights include various pastries, fresh French toast, crispy bacon, sausage, delicious fruits, jams, and much more. Since we stayed two nights, I was able to graze these options two days in a row, fueling my appetite.

As for their dinner options, guests are able to customize their three-course meal and can choose from one of three appetizers, entrees, and desserts. I took full advantage of this and made sure to try different options on each of the two nights we dined here.

As mentioned, the adjacent bar offers fun drinks to consume while you wait for your reservation time or after filling your stomach. The bar area is made complete by a pool table and two dartboards.

The incredibly tasty and filling dining options at the hotel can easily fill you up for the day, but Phantasialand also has a huge selection of multicultural foods that I recommend trying throughout the day.

Additional Perks of Staying at Hotel Charles Lindbergh

There are tons of perks to staying at this hotel, giving you great value for money. Firstly, your tickets to the park are included in your stay. In our case, we stayed two nights, which gave us three days of admission. We could enter the park on the day we checked in, the full day there, and the day we checked out. At Disney, the park admission alone would be well over $400 for three days.

But wait - there’s more!

Staying at the hotel also granted us early access to our section of the park, giving us a chance to ride the F.L.Y. coaster before the crowds got long. If you prefer to sleep in, however, you’ll also receive fast passes to this ride upon check-in - one for each guest per day.

In addition to the park admission, you’ll also get a daily breakfast, a nightly three-course meal, and special access to this section of the park after hours, as mentioned earlier. The hotel also offers an observation deck if you’d like to gain a closer look at the coaster.

I don’t even want to think about what all of this would have cost in the U.S. Props to my brother (a true theme park fan) for finding this gem and putting this all into motion for us. We were stunned by how much was included and quickly came to love this theme park and hotel!

Highlights of Phantasialand

I can’t provide a review of Hotel Charles Lindbergh and not mention the perks of Phantasialand itself! This is voted one of the world’s best theme parks - and for good reason. Between its themed lands and immersive rides, the park caters to people of all ages and interests.

I was extremely impressed by the ride designs, my favorite of which was Chiapas, an innovative log flume ride that (spoiler alert) went backward down one of its hills. We rode this back-to-back and risked the splashes because of how much fun it was!

There are countless food options throughout the park as well, which I made sure to take advantage of. There’s something so fun about trying food at theme parks. I just love a good theme, you know?

In addition to fun rides and dining, the park offers entertainment options as well. I didn’t attend any of these, but it’s a good option for anyone wanting a break from the rides.

I also noticed that European theme parks have many casual areas throughout their parks for relaxing. In a park my brother and I visited in Holland, for example, people brought literal picnics to have on the lawn spaces. This was a culture shock to us, but it was cool to see!

Tips for Visiting Phantasialand and Staying at Hotel Charles Lindbergh

How to Book: Booking the hotel experience with all of these perks is fairly easy. You can book an experience package directly on the site (linked here). Remember that this price includes your admission, almost all your meals, and early access to the park. When split between two people, the price is surprisingly affordable!

How to Pack: What you pack depends entirely on what time of year you’re visiting and what the rest of your itinerary looks like. As I was wrapping up six weeks in Europe upon my visit, I had packed for various seasons. I brought only a carry-on suitcase and a backpack and found that this was an acceptable amount for me. Don’t forget a fanny-pack for the theme park, as they useful to have!

How Long to Stay For: My review reflects a two-night stay at Hotel Charles Lindbergh. While Phantasialand can certainly be done in one day, we enjoyed having the second night and extra time in the park, especially since we traveled over the Atlantic to be there! It’s entirely up to you how long you stay, but we enjoyed having extra time to ride our favorite rides and not feel stressed about trying to fit everything in.

The Final Verdict

If you’re a fan of theme parks, Phantasialand must be on your bucket list! It’s one of my favorites that I’ve been to, and staying at Hotel Charles Lindbergh was the icing on top of the cake. As the review reflects, this was an unforgettable experience with thoughtful theming that elevated the entire trip.
