A Cozy Weekend Away at A Tiny House Resort in the Catskills

I was invited for a two-day stay at Think Big! A Tiny House Resort in New York’s Catskill Mountains, settling into this secluded property for a cozy retreat with myself and the surrounding nature. From the main road, one might not expect this charming resort to be a mere stone’s throw away. However, just beyond the private entrance exists a snug community of tiny homes run by a friendly family, making for a perfect weekend away at any time of year, especially for those looking for a nearby weekend trip from New York City.

What to Expect for Your Stay at Think Big! A Tiny House Resort in the Catskills

Solo travel becomes a lot less lonely when you are welcomed onto a property like A Tiny House Resort in the Catskills, which provided me with a warm welcome even as I arrived well past dusk. Whether traveling with a small group of friends or booking a solo getaway, the inviting premises and friendly staff will make your stay one to remember.

The Check-In Process: A Tiny House Resort has a simple check-in process for guests staying in one of its 15 tiny homes. Prepare to receive informative emails and texts from the property before you even arrive, highlighting various attractions in the area and amenities offered by the property. Prior to my check-in, one of the emails I received from the property’s owners included a tempting list of charcuterie-style boards I could add to my stay, ranging from milk ‘n cookies boards to s’mores boards. My eyes gravitated towards the s’mores skillet option, which was waiting for me in my cabin when I arrived.

The Cabins at A Tiny House Resort in the Catskills: Between its 15 tiny homes to choose from, most of which offer a water view, I was able to stay in the Green Bean, a cozy cabin fit for up to two people at the far end of the property. After checking in at the front window, guests are given directions to their cabin and are able to get settled into their tiny homes. The Green Bean cabin provided a homey environment for my stay, with a comfortable bed, a built-in kitchen, and even a substantial patio area with a grill and propane fire pit, with propane tanks available for $25. Lawn chairs, an outdoor fire pit, and a wagon for collecting firewood sat directly outside my patio entrance, giving me multiple opportunities to enjoy an outdoor fire during my stay.

The Property’s Highlights: Guests are free to explore the property at their leisure, explore nearby towns, choose from a variety of hikes, and participate in the resort’s activities. Your tiny home also poses the perfect opportunity to prepare tasty homemade meals, enjoy a sunset fire, and cuddle up in bed with a personally-selected movie. The property owners are also available via text should you have any questions, requests, or additional needs during your stay.

The Check-Out Process: The check-out process is easy, with a key drop available as you approach the exit. If the owners are around when you drop off your keys, they may even encourage you to go home with some eggs from their free-range chickens, which was an offer I couldn’t refuse as I got ready for my road trip home.

Things to Do at A Tiny House Resort and in the Catskills

The resort has a variety of seasonal activities, special event/celebration packages, spa services, and more that visitors can add to their stay, as well as discounted lift tickets for the nearby ski slopes. Listed below are a few of my personal recommendations during your stay at A Tiny House Resort!

Say Hello to the Property’s Farm Animals

Think Big! A Tiny House Resort boasts a handful of friendly farm animals, including sheep, goats, ducks, and free-range chickens. A unique activity offered by the resort is its year-round goat and sheep walk that visitors can embark on during their stay. If you don’t make it on a walk, however, you can view the animals at any point in the day, stepping up a bit closer to pet them through their gate if they’re not preoccupied with mealtime. Visitors also have the option to gather eggs from the chickens, a truly immersive experience for those unfamiliar with farm life.

Enjoy Some Hiking

The Catskill Mountains boast hiking trails with incredible views not too far from A Tiny House Resort. A few recommendations from the resort itself include North-South Lake and walking over the Hudson. The resort itself has a path to a waterfall that can be heard from the tiny homes on the end of the property.

Make Some S’mores Over the Fire

A cozy weekend getaway must include s’mores at some point. My stay at A Tiny House Resort included a s’mores skillet that I warmed up over the propane fire pit. An evening spent by the fire is a must while staying at the resort, especially when it involves marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers. Soak in this relaxing atmosphere on at least one of your nights here.

Explore Downtown Catskill

About a 10-minute drive from the property is downtown Catskill, a quaint little town with main street shops and dining options to fill one’s afternoon. You’ll find some colorfully-decorated buildings and small businesses adding to the street’s character.

Take Advantage of the Property’s Amenities and Seasonal Activities

Thing Big! A Tiny House Resort is a fun destination fit for all seasons, giving travelers more than enough reasons to return. One feature of the property that thrives in the summertime is its fenced garden offering vegetables and herbs to those staying in a tiny home. Other summer-friendly activities include the heated pool, kayaking, tubing, goat yoga, ping pong, and more.

However, even during a cozy stay in the colder months, there exists a plethora of fun activities, such as cross-country skiing, painting, and snowshoeing.

No matter what time of the year you book your stay, you are bound to find a homely environment capitalizing on a unique style of travel built for minimalists and nature lovers. For more information and to book your stay, visit atinyhouseresort.com!
